Zimbabwean socialite and comedian Felistas Murata, popularly known as Mai Tt, has sparked pregnancy rumors after she posted her recent pictures on social media.
The pictures show what looks like a small baby bump on her belly, leading some of her fans to speculate that she is expecting a child.
Mai Tt, who is also a recording artist and an activist for the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS¹, did not confirm or deny the rumors.
Some of her followers congratulated her on the possible pregnancy, while others assumed it was just a normal tummy. Some also wondered who the father of the baby could be, given Mai Tt’s turbulent marital history.
Mai Tt married US-based Tinashe Maphosa in April 2022 in a lavish wedding ceremony that featured South African singer Kelly Khumalo as a guest performer. The wedding was themed “the wedding of all times in the country” due to its glamour².
However, less than four months after the extravagant wedding, Mai Tt and Maphosa’s marriage hit the rocks.
The socialite made a series of allegations against her husband and claimed that he did not contribute to the wedding costs. She also accused him of being a serial liar, abusive rapist and a criminal who used her name to borrow money.
Maphosa responded by filing a US$250 000 (R4.5 million) defamation lawsuit against Mai Tt, claiming that she had tarnished his image with her reckless statements. Mai Tt did not take it well and lashed out at him on social media, using strong language and demanding her money back.
The legal battle between the estranged couple is still ongoing, and it is not clear if they have officially divorced or not. Mai Tt has not revealed if she is dating anyone else or if she has moved on from Maphosa.
If Mai Tt is indeed pregnant, it would be her third child. She is already a proud mother of two beautiful girls from her previous relationships.
She has not disclosed the gender or the due date of her rumored baby.
