Major Shake-Up at EcoCash, Nyambirai Takes the Helm

EcoCash Holdings Zimbabwe Limited (EHZL) has announced a significant leadership restructuring, with the appointment of Tawanda Nyambirai as Group CEO, succeeding the resigning Eddie Chibi.

This change comes alongside a mass resignation of eight board members, including board chair Sherree Gladys Shereni and key executive Darlington Mandivenga.

Nyambirai, a long-time associate of Econet and former owner of Steward Bank, takes the helm during this period of transition.

Ten new directors have been appointed to the board, signaling a potential shift in strategic direction for EHZL, a dominant player in Zimbabwe’s digital payments sector.

The extensive board reshuffle prompts speculation about the company’s future under Nyambirai’s leadership, particularly given his close relationship with Econet founder Strive Masiyiwa.
