Malema Dismisses Personal Connection with Ndlozi, Says He’s Not His Responsibility

EFF leader Julius Malema has made it clear that he does not have a personal relationship with Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, emphasizing that Ndlozi is simply a member of the party and not his responsibility.

Malema shared these thoughts during an interview on Power to Truth with Onkgopotse “JJ” Tabane on eNCA on Tuesday.

Ndlozi, a former spokesperson for the EFF, recently stepped down as a Member of Parliament, with the party stating that the resignation was voluntary. This followed an incident where Ndlozi was prevented from attending the EFF’s elective conference in December.

When asked about Ndlozi’s resignation, Malema revealed that he was informed while on holiday with his wife, adding that he had no involvement or concern regarding Ndlozi’s actions.

“I am not responsible for Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, I am not his father!” Malema stated, further emphasizing that he had no knowledge of Ndlozi’s whereabouts or activities.

This was Malema’s first interview with eNCA in five years, following a period of tension between the media outlet and the EFF. The disagreement began when eNCA withdrew from covering the EFF’s 2019 Second National People’s Assembly (NPA) due to editorial differences. However, the two parties have since reconciled for the sake of media freedom.

During the interview, Malema stated that the party continues to thrive without Ndlozi and that he was not concerned about his absence. He also confirmed that he and Ndlozi had not been in contact for some time.

“Our relationship ended at that time; we are just members of the same party. I never spoke to Mbuyiseni Ndlozi before the NPA and haven’t spoken to him after,” Malema said.

The strain between the two began when former deputy president Floyd Shivambu left the EFF to join the MK Party. It was revealed that Ndlozi was aware of Shivambu’s plans but did not inform Malema or the party leadership, a betrayal that Malema said he could not overlook.

Ndlozi, for his part, has not made any public comments regarding his position in the EFF. However, he recently shared a message on X (formerly Twitter) expressing his gratitude to the party and its supporters, writing, “Sibonge umbutho wabantu. Ndinithanda nonke emakhaya,” which translates to “Thank you to the people’s movement. I love you all at home.”
