Harare, Zimbabwe | Controversial Zimdancehall chanter Malloti Rose is at the center of a brewing storm that could see her dreams of performing in the United Kingdom go up in smoke. The singer, who is scheduled to perform at the Y2K SAMA Festival this April, is facing fierce backlash and calls for deportation following derogatory remarks aimed at Zimbabwean healthcare workers in the diaspora.
The “Nurse Aide” saga has not only ignited the fury of the UK-based Zimbabwean community but has also unearthed chilling allegations regarding her past in South Africa, leading to a coordinated campaign to have her barred from entry or deported upon arrival.
The Slur that Sparked the Fire: “MaZimbabweans echinherera”
The controversy began during a heated social media exchange with Ireland-based socialite Ketina Masomera. In a move that many have labeled “career suicide,” Malloti allegedly insulted the very demographic that sustains Zimbabwean music shows in the UK.
Malloti reportedly characterized nurse aides—often the backbone of the Zimbabwean diaspora economy—as unorganized and broke. She went as far as labeling them “Ma Zimbabweans echinherera” (impoverished Zimbabweans), a term that has deeply wounded a community that works long hours in the UK’s care sector to support families back home.
The insult has transformed into a legal and immigration nightmare for the singer. Activists, led by Masomera, are reportedly lobbying UK immigration authorities to review Malloti’s visa status. The primary angle for deportation or entry refusal centers on her alleged criminal history, which critics argue makes her “unfit” to enter the British Isles.
“You cannot come to eat from the hands of the same people you call paupers. We will ensure the authorities know exactly who is coming into their country,” a source close to the activists noted.
Wanted in South Africa? The Namatai Bhobho Allegations
Adding fuel to the fire are serious allegations regarding Malloti’s life before her rise to fame in Zimbabwe. It is alleged that the singer—real name Namatai Bhobho—is a fugitive from justice in South Africa.

Fellow socialite Evidence Chihera has further alleged that Malloti was part of a dangerous gang involved in a robbery that resulted in the death of a white South African national.
