Marondera, Zimbabwe — A man from Marondera, who recently garnered national attention for the tragic murder of his wife and children, has provided a detailed account of the events that led to the horrifying incident.
The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, recounted that his wife became pregnant shortly after completing her Form 6 studies. Despite the challenges, her academic results were impressive, prompting him to encourage her to pursue higher education.
“Dear wife, go to university, and I will take care of the child and look for money for your fees,” he told her, adding that he planned to attend university himself after she graduated, as he also had strong A-level results.
The couple tied the knot in December 2018, and the wife recently completed her degree, securing a permanent senior position at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) with a substantial salary.

During this period, the husband struggled to find stable employment, resorting to various hustles to finance his wife’s education and support their child.
However, as his wife’s career flourished, tensions grew within the household. The husband claimed that his wife began to speak disrespectfully towards him.
“If I saw a message on my wife’s phone and asked her about it, she would say, ‘If you’re hurt, leave,’” he stated. He further alleged that his mother-in-law fueled the discord, advising her daughter to abandon him.
“My daughter can’t support you; leave her. Find another woman,” he quoted his mother-in-law as saying.
These escalating domestic conflicts culminated in the tragic event, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, while the husband’s testimony paints a picture of a marriage strained by financial stress, unfulfilled ambitions, and external influences.
