Married Woman’s Husband Missing as Man Suffering from ‘Runyoka’ Seeks Cleansing

A young man from Bikita is facing significant challenges after developing severe stomach pains, which he believes are the result of a traditional charm known as “runyoka” due to an affair with a married woman.

Nelson Matupire has moved to the woman’s home and stated he will remain there until her husband performs a cleansing ritual. Matupire, who has been experiencing discomfort for the past year, reached out to TellZim News seeking assistance or referrals for help.

According to Matupire, he met the woman in Beitbridge after her separation from her husband. Following their encounter, he began experiencing issues that he describes as similar to a sexually transmitted infection, with symptoms resembling irritants and a feeling of small insects.

He later learned that he had been affected by a traditional charm used by the woman’s husband.

Matupire mentioned that after the woman and her husband reconciled, she too began suffering from severe stomach pains, which she attributed to the same charm. She has since returned to assist him, but her husband remains elusive.

When asked about his living situation with the married woman, Matupire explained that their cohabitation was purely a matter of necessity due to his worsening condition when away from her home. He emphasized that there was no ongoing relationship between them.
