Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival’s provincial finals are set to move to Matabeleland North this Saturday, with various dance groups gearing up to showcase their talent at New Tavern Beerhall in Victoria Falls.
During last weekend’s finals in Matabeleland South at Colleen Bawn Bar, Bolamba Performing Arts from Kafusi in rural Gwanda emerged victorious, impressing the audience with their captivating Sepata dance. They outperformed nine other dance groups to claim the top spot.
Following closely behind were Inqama Yophondo with their Amabhiza dance, and Sekusile group, securing third place with their Isitshikitsha dance.
Bolamba Performing Arts, having already clinched the provincial title thrice before, are determined to excel further and aim to be crowned national champions this year.
Africa Mathe, one of the group’s founders, expressed confidence in their abilities and their desire to bring the trophy home to Matabeleland South.
“In the three times we’ve made it to the finals, we believe we’ve improved, having been exposed to talents from groups across the country,” Mathe stated, emphasizing their dedication to representing their community and province proudly.
“We are committed to winning through continuous practice and rectifying our mistakes, aiming to bring joy to the people of Kafusi and the entire province.”
