ICT Minister Mavetera Attends MWC 24 in Shanghai, Explores 5G Innovations at Huawei R&D Centre

Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera is attending the MWC 24 technology conference, which commenced yesterday in Shanghai, China.

Today, she visited the Huawei Technology Shanghai Research and Development Centre on the sidelines of the conference.

The Huawei team, led by Hover Gao, President of Huawei sub-Saharan Africa, and Phil Li, Vice President of Huawei sub-Saharan Africa, hosted the Zimbabwean delegation, which included the Postal Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) director general, Dr. Gift Machengete, and officials from the ministry.

They were introduced to Huawei’s latest innovations, particularly the deployment of 5.5G technology.

Minister Mavetera emphasized the need for Zimbabwe to rapidly deploy 5G to capitalize on the benefits of smart technologies developed by companies like Huawei.

She highlighted that technology has the potential to transform the country and contribute to achieving Vision 2030.

Huawei’s showcased innovations include smart traffic technologies, smart mining, e-commerce, and smart routers.
