Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona made an unannounced visit to the Chitungwiza Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) Depot following reports of corruption within the institution. The surprise visit came after numerous messages and anonymous letters detailing allegations of bribery and misconduct among VID officers.
During discussions with driving instructors and individuals waiting to take their driving tests, Minister Felix Mhona received information implicating four VID examiners in corrupt practices. The Minister confirmed that investigations into the matter were underway and that the officers in question might be relocated from the depot as a precautionary measure.
Minister Mhona emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, echoing the sentiments of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. He reiterated the commitment to root out corruption, stressing the importance of public engagement in combating such malpractices.

The Minister’s proactive approach received praise from local stakeholders, including Onias Sanangura, a businessman and founder of Ring Driving School, who commended the efforts to address corruption within VID and acknowledged the significance of collaborative efforts in the fight against corruption.
In another story, Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Felix Mhona has announced that the 40 roads currently undergoing rehabilitation in Harare are expected to be fully operational within the next three weeks.
Minister Mhona made this declaration while inspecting the ongoing road rehabilitation projects in the capital city. He was joined by Charles Tavengwa, the Harare Metropolitan Province Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, alongside other senior government officials.
