Residents of Chipinge no longer have to travel long distances for essential diagnostic services following the acquisition of state-of-the-art X-ray machines at Mount Selinda and St Peter’s Hospitals in Checheche.
The new equipment marks a major improvement in healthcare delivery, addressing a long-standing challenge that forced patients to seek X-ray services at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital in Mutare, over 180 kilometers away.
Chipinge District Medical Officer, Dr. Ozzimmo Matekenya, welcomed the development, highlighting its significance in improving early diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.
“We are thrilled to have these modern X-ray machines in our district. This will go a long way in improving service delivery, reducing travel costs for patients, and ensuring faster medical interventions,” said Dr. Matekenya.
He encouraged community members to take full advantage of the newly available diagnostic services, emphasizing that both hospitals are now fully equipped to handle X-ray examinations efficiently.
The acquisition of these machines is part of ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Chipinge and ensure residents have access to quality medical services closer to home.
