MDC leader, Mr Douglas Mwonzora has withdrawn from the 2023 Presidential election race. Mr Mwonzora made the announcement at a Press Conference in Harare on Tuesday morning.
He cited election management irregularities by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
Addressing journalists in Hre (8 July), he said he boycotted because ZEC’s decision to bar the party’s 87 MPs candidates was political discrimination.
He said, however that nominated MPs and Council candidates will contest.
The MDC founded in 1999 was the strongest opposition to ZANU PFs dominance until the untimely demise of its founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai in 2018.
