Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba has lauded Scottland FC owner Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya for his dedication to improving the lives of football players in Zimbabwe.
The Luton Town midfielder, who will join the national team on Monday, expressed optimism about Zimbabwe’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Sakupwanya, through his business BetterBrands Petroleum, is a major sponsor of the Warriors’ kit, showing his commitment to supporting Zimbabwean football.
Zimbabwe is hoping to secure at least a point in their upcoming Group J AFCON qualifier against Kenya, scheduled for November 15 in Polokwane, which would guarantee their spot in the 2025 tournament.
Scottland FC is also on the verge of a historic promotion to the Premier Soccer League, needing a victory against Black Mambas at Rufaro Stadium on Friday to win the Northern Region Soccer League title.
Nakamba sent his best wishes to Scottland FC ahead of their crucial match on Friday. He took to his social media to thank Sakupwanya for his continuous support, both for the national team and for the players at Scottland FC. He wrote:
“I would like to send my best wishes to Scottland FC ahead of their final game on Friday. To the owner, Scott Sakupwanya, thank you for uplifting and supporting players, and for your invaluable support for the national team.”
Sakupwanya has earned recognition for his significant contributions to player welfare, offering generous incentives. Last week, Scottland FC players received a Toyota Aqua for their victory over Herentals U20, and each player stands to earn US$10,000 if they secure promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
