NetOne Empowers Chikomba District with Sports Kits in Battle Against Substance Abuse

NetOne’s impactful initiative in Chikomba District serves as a symbol of hope in the global battle against drug abuse. By donating sports kits and collaborating with Dr. Tatenda Mavetera, the Minister of ICTPCS, this program goes beyond addressing substance misuse; it embodies a commitment to promoting health, resilience, and community well-being.

In 2024, NetOne commemorated National Heroes Day by not only honoring the nation’s history but also creating new heroes in the process. Partnering with the Chikomba community, the mobile network operator (MNO) sponsored a sports event and provided sporting equipment for both men and women. While seemingly modest, this gesture highlights NetOne’s belief in the power of sports to drive positive change and foster sustainable development within Chikomba District.

NetOne’s dedication to community development is clear through its efforts to address pressing social issues. Their recent initiative in Chikomba District underscores the company’s commitment to tackling drug abuse directly, not just through resources, but by empowering communities to build healthier, more resilient futures.

Recognizing the role of sports in social development, NetOne’s strategic donation of sports kits to Chikomba District aims to harness sports’ positive impact. Sports promote physical activity, teamwork, and resilience, especially among youth who are vulnerable to drug abuse.

Sports are a powerful tool for fostering social cohesion and personal growth. By participating in sports, individuals can develop life skills such as discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship, enhancing their well-being and sense of community. NetOne’s initiative is about more than just providing equipment—it’s about creating opportunities for the youth of Chikomba District to engage in positive activities that build character and strengthen community ties.

In addressing drug abuse, NetOne’s commitment to Chikomba District demonstrates how corporate social responsibility (CSR) can generate meaningful, lasting change.
