NetOne Transforms Zimbabwe’s Digital Landscape with Tourist Connectivity and Data Reforms

Harare, Zimbabwe | NetOne Zimbabwe is leading the digital revolution with the launch of specialized Tourist SIMs and optimized data windows to boost connectivity and tourism.

From revolutionizing how visitors connect to the local network to re-engineering data accessibility for the midnight surfer, the state-owned telecommunications firm is proving that it is no longer just a service provider, but a primary architect of the nation’s “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” philosophy.

Empowering the Travel Sector: The 90-Day Tourist SIM

Recognizing that connectivity is the lifeblood of modern travel, NetOne has officially launched its specialized Tourist SIM card. In a move that streamlines the arrival experience, these SIM cards are being distributed for free at major entry points, including international airports.

The initiative is specifically designed to support the tourism sector by offering:

  • Instant Connectivity: Visitors can activate their lines the moment they touch down.

  • Tailored Affordability: Flexible bundles specifically curated for short-term stays.

  • Extended Validity: Unlike standard temporary lines, the Tourist SIM remains active for 90 days, ensuring seamless communication for the duration of any holiday or business trip.

In a direct response to consumer feedback and changing lifestyle patterns, NetOne leadership has announced a significant shift in its data service structure. The popular “off-peak” window has been adjusted to run from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, moving up from the previous 1:00 AM start time.

This adjustment is a game-changer for students, researchers, and entertainment seekers. By aligning the off-peak hours with actual human behavior, NetOne is enabling more Zimbabweans to access high-speed, affordable internet for heavy downloads and system updates without sacrificing a full night’s sleep.

Beyond technical specs, NetOne is leveraging its infrastructure to drive social reform. A recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment highlights the company’s commitment to creating income-generating opportunities for the younger generation across all ten provinces.

“Our growth trajectory is anchored in governance, reform, and cutting-edge technology,” a representative from NetOne noted. “By listening to our customers and staying transparent in our operations, we are ensuring that no community is left behind in this digital journey.”

As Zimbabwe marches toward a tech-driven economy, NetOne’s shift toward customer-centricity and strategic partnerships marks a pivotal chapter in the country’s telecommunications history.
