DJ Ribhe, a Chillspot Records producer, denies raping a 14-year-old girl. He pleaded not guilty in Harare court, stating he never had any sexual contact with her and did not drug her, as the prosecution alleges.
His lawyer, Stephen Chikotora, refuted claims that DJ Ribhe spiked the girl’s drinks. DJ Ribhe claims he was working as a DJ at Mashwede Village the night in question, and the complainant was there with others, including a man named Courage and another woman.
He suggests that if she had any sexual activity that night, it was not with him. The State alleges DJ Ribhe drugged and then raped the teenager, who is a Form Two student and lives nearby.
They claim she missed school for two days before going to DJ Ribhe’s home with others and then to Mashwede Village.
The State contends he gave her an unknown substance and shisha, then took her to his home where she awoke the next day, realizing she had been raped.
Ephraim Zinyandu is prosecuting the case.
