Harare, Zimbabwe | Gwanzura Stadium was buzzing with excitement on Sunday as a large crowd gathered for a football tournament featuring some of the country’s top musicians swapping their microphones for soccer boots.
The event, organized by Pacific Storm, aimed to unite people from diverse backgrounds for a day filled with football, music, food, and social interaction.
The atmosphere was lively as teams made up of musicians, producers, promoters, and fans played with energy and a spirit of sportsmanship.
The tournament ended with Vigilance FC claiming victory, earning a trophy and $1,000 in prize money. Other teams, such as Freeman’s Gallis FC, King Shaddy’s Makorokoza FC, and Zim Musicians, captained by sungura artist Peter Moyo, received consolation prizes.
Before the celebrity matchups, teams from different provinces across the country showcased their football talents in a knockout competition, also sponsored by Pacific Storm.
Speaking about the initiative, Pacific Storm Trade Marketing Manager, Mr. Chiutsi, explained that the tournament was designed to foster social unity and address various societal challenges.

“We wanted to create an opportunity for young adults to display their talents within their regions, and bringing the event to Harare at Gwanzura was a great achievement. Over 12 teams participated, including celebrities and others from different parts of the country,” Chiutsi said.
He added that the goal of the event was to keep young people engaged and away from negative influences while also creating lasting change in communities.
“As a business, we are dedicated to initiatives like this and have also worked on other projects, such as improving access to water for communities. We want to continue along this path and make a positive impact on people’s lives,” he added.
