Police Exchange Gunfire With Robbers Once More!

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has made significant strides in combating armed robberies with the recent arrest of several suspects linked to a series of violent crimes in Harare and Ngundu.

In Harare, Patricia Mutedzi (24), Munyaradzi Jonga (34), and Munyaradzi Sandaka (33) were apprehended for their alleged involvement in a string of robbery incidents spanning from December 29th, 2023, to February 6th, 2024. These incidents targeted security guards and homeowners, where the suspects reportedly brandished firearms to steal cash and valuables.

Detectives from CID Homicide received a breakthrough on February 14th, 2024, when information linked Patricia Mutedzi to the robberies. Following this lead, Mutedzi was arrested at Damview Lodge, leading to the recovery of a Toyota Mark X vehicle suspected to be used in the crimes. Mutedzi implicated Munyaradzi Jonga, Munyaradzi Sandaka, and another suspect known as Madzibaba Mandaza as her accomplices.

A subsequent operation led to the arrest of Munyaradzi Sandaka at his residence in Retreat Farm, Waterfalls. Sandaka resisted arrest and was shot in the leg by law enforcement. The arrest yielded the recovery of a 0.38 Rossi Revolver, jewelry, gold scales, a diamond detector, and suspected minerals.

Munyaradzi Jonga was located in Glenview 8 and attempted to flee upon sighting detectives. He was apprehended after being shot in the shin. The suspects are implicated in six robbery cases, including thefts of significant amounts of cash and property.

In Ngundu, Masvingo, police intercepted a group of armed robbery suspects traveling in a Toyota Runx motor vehicle en route to Chiredzi. Pardon Shoko (36) resisted arrest and brandished a firearm at officers. In response, he was shot and later pronounced dead at a local clinic.

The arrest of Brain Jazi (36) and Joseph Makuvise (43) followed, resulting in the recovery of firearms, cable ties, cell phones, and other items believed to be linked to previous robbery cases. Investigations have linked the suspects to armed robberies at Robel Prowel Hardware in Masvingo CBD and a college in ZEXCOM Masvingo, where substantial sums of money were stolen.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police continues to crack down on criminal activities, ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the country.
