In a tragic development, five people died in a horrific road accident in Mabvuku.
The road traffic accident occurred yesterday evening along Donnybrook Road, Chizhanje area, Mabvuku.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has finally confirmed the tragic incident on their official social media handle.
According to a police statement, a lorry collided head-on with a commuter omnibus. Shortly after, another commuter omnibus crashed into the back of the first one.
Unfortunately, five people died on the spot, while several others were injured.
The tragic accident has got social media buzzing with mixed reactions. Some netizens offered their condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.
However, some social media users have criticized commuter omnibus drivers for reckless driving.

Commuter omnibus drivers are now a danger to the society. This is very bad can the government do something cause about these drivers cause hmm what they are doing in the road is uncalled for

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the police in Bulawayo are seeking assistance in the investigation of a hit-and-run road traffic accident that occurred on May 19, 2024.
A yet-to-be-identified man died after being struck by an unknown motorist along JMN Nkomo Street.
The victim, believed to be around 30 years old, was dressed in a green cap, black t-shirt, black trousers, and black Nike shoes. He was also carrying a khaki satchel at the time of the accident. The body has been transferred to Mpilo Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and report to the nearest police station.
