Potraz to Arrest Starlink Users! Will They Go After Politically Linked Mutsvangwa’s Son?
Harare | People who use Starlink internet services before the firm is properly registered to operate in Zimbabwe risk being arrested, according to threats made by POTRAZ, the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe.
POTRAZ Director General Dr. Gift Machengete stated that in order for the business to begin functioning lawfully, the regulator wants it to comply with all legal requirements.
“Anyone detected utilising Starlink goods or services in Zimbabwe will face immediate arrest. No one should be observed utilizing its goods or services as of right now as they haven’t regularized, according to Dr. Machengete.
He continued by saying that the business has not yet received details on its operating plan. According to him, Starlink has not yet indicated which licencing package they would want, raising doubts about whether they want to function as a VSAT supplier or a complete operator.
