President Mnangagwa Re-appoints Dr. Paul Tungwarara as Special Investment Adviser to UAE

Zimbabwean Investor Paul Tungwarara Scoops Top Honor at Africa Investment Leaders Awards

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has re-appointed businessman Dr. Paul Tungwarara as the Special Presidential Investment Adviser for the United Arab Emirates, with the appointment taking immediate effect.

“I, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, by the authority vested in me under the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 20) Act 2013, hereby appoint Tempter Paul Tungwarara as Special Presidential Investment Adviser to the United Arab Emirates effective from the date of signing this document,” announced President Mnangagwa.

In this new role, Dr. Tungwarara will serve for a renewable term of two years. He is empowered to engage with UAE officials and conduct business on behalf of the Zimbabwean government within his area of expertise.

Dr. Tungwarara will report to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira.

The President also requested that Dr. Tungwarara be accorded the same privileges, facilities, and immunities as other presidential advisers in comparable roles.

Dr. Tungwarara has already taken significant steps to boost Zimbabwe’s profile as a favorable investment hub. Among his achievements, he has attracted the interest of prominent international investors, including Mohamed Alabbar, owner of the Burj Khalifa, who has shown interest in hotel development projects within Zimbabwe.

Mr. Alabbar, a prominent figure in Dubai’s business sector, leads various ventures in industries like fashion, real estate, and commodities.

Furthermore, Dr. Tungwarara has established a collaboration with PSI Real Estate, associated with DAMAC, a major luxury real estate developer in Dubai.

Domestically, Dr. Tungwarara is leading several government-supported initiatives aimed at advancing sustainable development and improving quality of life in Zimbabwe. As part of the Presidential Borehole Scheme, he is overseeing the installation of boreholes to support water access in rural areas.

Additionally, through the Presidential Solar Scheme, Dr. Tungwarara is helping address Zimbabwe’s energy needs by promoting renewable energy.

This project, already piloted in Glen View, Harare, involves installing solar panels on rooftops at no cost to homeowners, with the generated energy feeding into the national grid.
