HARARE, Zimbabwe – In a landmark development, President and Commander in Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, this morning officially commissioned the Dzivarasekwa Housing Project.
This long-anticipated initiative is set to provide quality housing for members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), significantly improving their living conditions.
The Dzivarasekwa Housing Project is part of the Government’s ambitious Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy. A key component of this vision involves addressing housing shortages across the country, including within the armed forces, to ensure improved welfare for citizens and service members alike.
The housing project is expected to accommodate hundreds of military personnel and their families, alleviating the chronic housing shortages that have affected the ZDF for years. This strategic investment underscores the Government’s commitment to supporting the well-being of military personnel, recognizing their critical role in maintaining national security and stability.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of this development in enhancing the quality of life for service members. “This project reflects our dedication to providing decent housing for our brave men and women who serve this nation with distinction,” he said. “It is also a testament to our broader goals of economic transformation and infrastructure development under Vision 2030.”
The Dzivarasekwa Housing Project also contributes to the Government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate economic growth and foster development across multiple sectors. By prioritizing housing, the initiative not only improves living standards but also drives employment in the construction industry and related sectors.
Housing remains a vital pillar of Vision 2030, which seeks to ensure equitable access to modern and affordable homes for all Zimbabweans. Projects like Dzivarasekwa highlight the Government’s focus on integrating military and civilian housing programs into broader economic revitalization efforts.
