Construction progresses on Mbudzi Interchange in Harare, with 55% completion recorded as of now. Transport and Infrastructural Development minister Felix Mhona anticipates the US$88 million project to conclude by July this year. Significant advancements in civil works have been achieved, with work on all 15 bridges underway, some already finalized.

Minister Mhona highlighted the project’s adherence to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s infrastructural development agenda, emphasizing the continuous efforts of engineers working around the clock to meet the completion target.

To date, approximately US$45 million has been expended on the project, with compensation provided to 46 property owners affected by the construction. Engagements are ongoing with the remaining five property owners.

The Mbudzi Interchange, executed by the Tefoma Construction joint venture, aims to alleviate congestion along the Harare-Beitbridge Highway intersection. The project, financed through a loan from Fossil Mines (Pvt) Limited, comprises local firms Tensor Systems, Fossil Contracting, and Masimba Construction.

Additionally, Minister Mhona announced plans for the completion of the VVIP Pavilion mini-airport at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by July, aligning with the Mbudzi Interchange’s anticipated conclusion.
