A prophet from Chegutu was arrested on Saturday for allegedly sexually abusing a female congregant.
Prophet Timothy Michael, who leads the New Generation Church, was taken into custody during a church service.
Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, stated that he had not yet received details of the case.
However, senior church member Venjai Jowo confirmed the arrest, stating, “Yes, he has been arrested,” but declined to provide further comments.
According to sources speaking to H-Metro, Prophet Michael allegedly asked the female congregant for a kiss.
“This woman was the only one to stand up for herself. She confronted him when he made the inappropriate request,” the source explained.
