Unsettling footage purporting to show the Zanu-PF chairman for Mutasa district fighting with his wife over a $5 bill that he claims was intended for his beer has surfaced.
The chairman—whose identity has not been made public—and his spouse are seen clenching into a fistfight, with both of them clearly bleeding from the mouth.
A woman’s voice can be heard in the background, but it doesn’t sound like she’s making any progress in breaking up the fight. The disturbing video raises questions about a more serious problem with spousal abuse and violence.
Many have expressed shock and demanded accountability in response to the video, with many wondering how a person in a position of authority could act in such a way.
Farai Marapira, the director of information for Zanu-PF, stated in an interview with Nehanda Radio that neither the ruling party nor its leader, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, support acts of violence.

The footage clearly shows an instance of domestic violence. As His Excellency, President E. D. Mnangagwa has often stated, Zanu-PF has a clear stance against violence of any form.
He declared, “We do not support any form of violence and we urge all citizens to follow His Excellency’s wisdom in resolving conflicts of any kind through peaceful means.”
“As a party, we launch independent investigations into any alleged unlawful activity carried out by members.
“Members of Zanu-PF are especially obligated to follow legal requirements. We do support such behaviour, and we will follow the results of any police investigations,” Marapira declared.
