Harare, Zimbabwe | Scotland FC players received a major boost this week, with each player pocketing US$2,000 and a Toyota Aqua vehicle promised by businessman Wicknell Chivayo for their outstanding run in the Northern Region Division One Soccer League.
Chivayo, known for his high-profile rewards, provided US$1,000 bonuses for each recent victory—against Harare City and Herentals Under-19— a result which brought Scotland FC within reach of promotion to Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Goalkeeper Panashe Nyamhunga expressed his gratitude, saying, “I want to thank Sir Wicknell from the bottom of my heart. All players received our bonuses, and I got my car yesterday. I am so happy and delighted.”
Scotland’s march toward promotion was further strengthened after the league’s disciplinary committee awarded them a 3-0 victory in an abandoned match against Karoi United.

The game, halted eight minutes from time due to crowd violence, saw the referee struck by a missile, prompting officials to take cover. Karoi United was found responsible for failing to control their supporters, leading the committee to grant Scotland the maximum points after repeated delays in Karoi’s appeals.
Now, Scotland FC leads the standings with 84 points, two points ahead of MWOS, the previous frontrunners, heading into Friday’s final round.
Scotland will host Black Mambas, while MWOS takes on Agama. With MWOS holding a superior goal difference, Scotland needs a victory to secure PSL promotion.
As both teams prepare for their decisive matches, Scotland’s recent windfall and the possibility of promotion have brought renewed energy and motivation to the squad.
