Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions, Scottland FC, have officially announced the departure of Chief Executive Officer Ronald Moyo, ending a year-long tenure with the Mabvuku-based giants.
The club confirmed the development in a press statement released on Monday, describing the exit as a “mutual separation” between the executive and the championship-winning side.
Moyo joined Scottland FC in January 2025, arriving with a high-profile reputation after a successful stint at Highlanders FC. His appointment was seen as a strategic move by the Scottland hierarchy to professionalize the club’s administrative structures as they transitioned from the Northern Region Soccer League into the top flight.
In an official statement, the club lauded Moyo’s professionalism and the foundation he helped build during his time in office:
“The club extends its sincere gratitude to Ronald Moyo for his commitment, leadership, and the time he dedicated to Scottland FC. His efforts and contribution to the club are truly appreciated.”
Before making the move to Scottland, Moyo was a key figure at Highlanders, where he rose through the ranks from Communications Officer to CEO, eventually replacing Nhlanhla Bahlangene Dube. His move to Scottland was one of the most talked-about administrative transfers in the 2024/25 off-season, highlighting the club’s ambition to recruit the best talent both on and off the pitch.
During his year at the helm, Scottland FC managed to solidify their status as a powerhouse in Zimbabwean football, clinching the league title in a historic debut season.
What’s Next for Scottland FC?
The departure of a CEO during the off-season poses a significant task for the club’s board, led by patron Pedzai ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya. The club is now expected to begin the search for a successor who can manage the administrative demands of defending the PSL title and potentially competing in the CAF Champions League.
While Moyo has not yet commented on his next destination, his track record at two of the country’s most prominent clubs makes him a highly sought-after administrator in the Southern African football landscape.
