Security Guard Accused Of Stealing US$160k On The Run

A warrant of arrest has been issued for a security guard accused of stealing US$160,000 from a safe at National Foods last year, as he failed to appear for trial.

Edward Davirai Mudowaya, who was on trial alongside his alleged accomplice Charlotte Tarisai Munetsi, has disappeared during the trial proceedings. Munetsi was employed as a cashier at National Foods, while Mudowaya worked as a Close Circuit Television Monitor for Safeguard Security, seconded to National Foods.

According to court documents, between March 17 and 21 last year, Munetsi received cash totaling US$304,014 from company sales, which she kept in the Cash Office safe instead of depositing it in the bank. On March 21, she secured the safe and placed the key in her drawer without activating the Cash Office door alarm, as required.
