Sekuru Tasvu Splashes US$30 000 For Wedding!
Sekuru Tasvu, a renowned sangoma based in Harare, has revealed that he spared no expense for his wedding with his wife, Talent Qeliwe Mpofu.
According to Sekuru Tasvu, the total cost of their wedding surpassed US$30,000, with significant amounts allocated to various aspects of the ceremony.
Detailing the expenses incurred, Sekuru Tasvu disclosed that he allocated US$1,500 for the wedding dress, ensuring that his bride looked stunning on their special day. Additionally, he invested US$300 in a beautifully crafted wedding cake to delight their guests.
When it came to the bride’s ring, Sekuru Tasvu spared no extravagance, splurging a hefty US$2,500 on a diamond-and-gold encrusted ring, symbolizing their everlasting commitment.
The wedding reception, a focal point of celebration and joy, consumed a substantial portion of the budget, with Sekuru Tasvu estimating its cost at US$10,000.
In Zimbabwean tradition, roora, or lobola, holds significant cultural and symbolic importance. Sekuru Tasvu revealed that he paid a substantial amount of US$15,000 along with offering 20 cattle as roora to his bride’s family.
Additionally, during the festivities, three cattle and seven pigs were slaughtered to provide nourishment and celebration for the guests.
When totaling the pre- and post-wedding expenses, including roora and the wedding reception, Sekuru Tasvu calculated that he spent over US$30,000, underscoring the extent of his investment in ensuring a memorable and grand celebration of love.
Sekuru Tasvu’s disclosure of his wedding expenditures highlights the cultural significance and financial commitment often associated with weddings in Zimbabwean society.
Despite the considerable costs involved, weddings are viewed as joyous occasions for families to come together, celebrate love, and create cherished memories that last a lifetime.
