According to new startling accusations, the BBC personality accused of paying a child £35,000 for sexually explicit images contacted their mother twice to urge that the enquiry be dropped.
The broadcaster, who has now been suspended by the BBC, allegedly called the individual and said, “What have you done?”
According to the Sun, he also spoke with the individual and advised them to contact their mother in order to “suspend the investigation.”
The news comes as the government has requested explanations from BBC executives, and the Met Police has apparently been alerted about the event.
And, according to BBC insiders, the corporation has “begun to receive calls from the public” regarding the man at the core of the scandal.
The Sun says the family of the young person – who was a teenager at the time of the exchange but is now 20 – are annoyed at a statement put out by the broadcaster.
The corporation said “new allegations” came to light on Thursday. But the family claim no one ever spoke to them for a proper interview after the initial complaint.
The family allegedly turned over a dossier of evidence to the broadcaster’s main investigator, ex-cop Jeff Brown, on Saturday.
One of the charges is that the host has paid the teenager over £35,000 since they were 17.
According to the Sun, the mother and family protested in May but were upset when the celebrity stayed on screen. They further claim that the adolescent exploited the man’s supposed cash to support his drug addiction.
She said they went from a “happy-go-lucky youngster to a ghost-like crack addict” in three years. Several high-profile BBC personalities have previously said that it is not them.
Ms Frazer, the Culture Secretary, had earlier stated that Mr Davie had told her that the broadcaster was “investigating swiftly and sensitively.” “Given the nature of the allegations, it is critical that the BBC now be given the space to conduct its investigation, establish the facts, and take appropriate action,” she added. I’ll be kept informed.”
