Shurugwi man assaulted to death
Police in Shurugwi are currently investigating a murder case involving a 34-year-old man who tragically passed away upon arrival at Shurugwi District Hospital. The victim was assaulted by two other men in Mountdor, Shurugwi, on April 3.
Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident and appealed to the public for any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects involved.
“We can confirm the death of a 34-year-old man in Mountdor, and we are treating two individuals, known only as Tinashe and Lyton according to witnesses, as suspects,” stated Mahoko. “These two individuals were last seen with the deceased. We urge anyone with information on their location to come forward and assist us in our investigations.”

The circumstances leading to the incident are as follows: Vengai Mujere, aged 43, and Willard Taranhike, aged 40, both residents of Mountdor, Shurugwi, were at home when they heard cries for help. They immediately rushed to the source of the noise and discovered Stephen Muvengi lying on the ground in pain. Muvengi informed them that he had been attacked by two men identified as Tinashe and Lyton.
Muvengi lost consciousness, prompting Mujere and Taranhike to arrange for transportation to take him to Shurugwi District Hospital. Despite their efforts, Muvengi’s injuries proved fatal, and he passed away after being admitted to the hospital.
The police are actively pursuing leads and seeking cooperation from the community to apprehend the suspects and bring justice to the victim’s family.
