Wicknell Chivayo claims to have spent upwards of US$1 million to become the first individual in Zimbabwe to acquire the 2024 Rolls Royce Spectre (Full Electric) over the weekend in England.
Initially priced at about US$422,700 upon its unveiling, this ultra-luxury super coupe allows clients to incorporate personalized enhancements, driving the cost well beyond the million-dollar mark.
Earlier this year, an initial purchaser resold the vehicle for approximately US$1.4 million at an auction during the 2024 Naples Winter Wine Festival, signaling intense demand for the model, which is already sold out until next year.
As Rolls Royce’s inaugural all-electric car in its 119-year history, the Spectre has garnered praise for its blend of innovation and familiarity, described by the Wall Street Journal as “oddly familiar like an old friend with a new bionic heart.”
Despite its distinction as the world’s most expensive electric vehicle, in the realm of the priciest rides globally, the Spectre falls short of other contenders.
The Rose Noire Droptail leads the pack at a staggering US$32 million, followed by the Rolls Royce Boat Tail at US$28 million and the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta at US$18.5 million. The Bugatti La Voiture Noire trails at US$16 million, with the Rolls Royce Sweptail rounding out the top five at US$12.8 million.
