Slain Armed Robber Godknows Machingura’s Suspected Accomplices Back In Court

The suspected accomplices of the slain armed robber, Godknows Machingura, found themselves back in court, where their plea for refusal of further remand was denied. Ndiafhi Makhado (39), Andrew Masubelele (38), Paul Zhou (55), and Emmanuel Makamo (22) appeared before Magistrate Donald Ndirowei in pursuit of the refusal of further remand.

Their charges of conspiracy to commit robbery were revisited in the remand court to facilitate the management of the case while investigations continue.

However, Magistrate Ndirowei dismissed the application, filed by Masubelele, Makhado, and Makamo, who hold South African nationality. He cited significant progress in the investigations, deeming it against the interests of justice to release them at this stage. The court reconvenes today for Zhou’s bail ruling, completing the legal proceedings for the day.

The arrest of the gang came after law enforcement received intelligence regarding their plans to rob a local businessman. Acting swiftly, the police raided the guest house where the suspects had made arrangements, leading to a fierce shootout.

Tragically, Machingura and Jabulani Ngobeni, another member of the gang, were fatally wounded in the exchange.
