Tafadzwa Chidawa Arrested For The Fifth Time
Former police officer Tafadzwa Chidawa, widely known as “Detective Kheda” for his viral social media videos capturing thieves in Harare, has found himself in the spotlight once again. This time, however, the attention is not for his crime-fighting exploits but for his own legal troubles.
Chidawa has been arrested for the fifth time, this instance involving allegations of kidnapping a woman and leaving her at the Harare Central Police Station.
Recently, the incident leading to his arrest unfolded following a request from the woman’s boyfriend to investigate her abduction.
According to court documents, on March 5, Chidawa and five accomplices, including Sallom Gandiya, the victim, orchestrated a plan where they posed as the woman’s boyfriend’s cousin. Under false pretenses, they arranged a meeting with Gandiya at the Caledon Shops on Seke Road, enlisting the services of a cab driven by Watson Gatsi for the rendezvous.

Upon arrival at the Caledon Shops, Gandiya was met by Chidawa and his associates, who masqueraded as police detectives from Harare Central Police Station. Allegedly accusing Gandiya of deceiving her partner about a pregnancy, Chidawa and his group forcefully detained her by handcuffing her and placing her into a vehicle.
The unfolding details of the incident have sparked significant public interest, especially given Chidawa’s previous reputation as a crime-fighting figure. As legal proceedings progress, the case continues to draw attention to the complexities surrounding law enforcement and the consequences of alleged criminal behavior, even among those once lauded for their efforts in combating crime.
