The commissioning of the Tantallon Estates housing project, also referred to as the Nyore Nyore Housing Scheme in Manyame, is now in its final stages.
The contractor, Bitumen World, is currently wrapping up road construction in preparation for the scheme’s launch.
Spearheaded by Pinnacle Properties, this initiative aligns with the Second Republic’s vision of providing affordable housing for all citizens. Following its rollout in Mashonaland East, there are plans to extend the scheme to other provinces nationwide.
During a media tour of the project site yesterday, it was observed that Bitumen World is actively surfacing roads in Manyame District. Engineer Munyaradzi Meki, a senior site agent, confirmed that road construction is progressing well and is expected to be completed ahead of schedule.
“So far, we have completed 6.9 kilometers of road, and we plan to finish by the end of March. We are currently priming the roads and will begin servicing them in two days, thanks to the favorable weather conditions,” he stated.
Recently, Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, visited the Nyore Nyore Housing stands to assess progress. He highlighted the partnership between the Government and Pinnacle Property Holdings Ltd.
Bitumen World has been assigned the responsibility of developing key infrastructure, including roads and drainage systems, to ensure regulatory compliance before any stands are sold or construction begins.
Minister Garwe further announced that President Mnangagwa is set to officially commission the project soon. Additionally, he revealed that the Government has entered into an agreement to acquire 20,000 stands specifically for civil servants. He stressed the importance of cooperation between Government engineers and Bitumen World in ensuring the project’s success.
Dr. Philip Chiyangwa, Chairman of the Nyore Nyore Housing Scheme, reaffirmed the project’s goal of advancing the Second Republic’s commitment to improving living conditions through housing development. The initiative aims to deliver 250,000 units, including residential stands, flats, and business centers, while also providing housing opportunities for the general public beyond civil servants.
This ambitious project is expected to make a significant impact on housing accessibility in Zimbabwe, supporting the country’s broader development objectives.
