Tatenda Rusere Arrested in Harare for Cocaine Distribution

A 38-year-old man was detained by police for possessing 23 grams of cocaine. In a statement released on Saturday, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the suspect, Tatenda Rusere, also known as Jack, was allegedly involved in the distribution of cocaine in the Harare area.

Rusere was apprehended in the Chigwende region of Ushewekunze, Harare, on Thursday, where authorities found him with 23 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, and several plastic bags. Nyathi explained:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police announces the arrest of Tatenda Rusere, 38, alias Jack, for the illegal possession of 23 grams of cocaine.

On January 24, 2025, detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics division in Harare received intelligence suggesting that the suspect was engaged in the distribution of cocaine in the larger Harare area.

Acting on this information, the detectives posed as potential buyers and made contact with Rusere.

Following this, Rusere was arrested in the Chigwende area of Ushewekunze, Harare, where the authorities recovered the cocaine, a digital scale, and multiple plastic bags.
