The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe (MCZ) has dismissed allegations that it is protecting a teacher at Waddilove High School in Marondera accused of indecent assault.
A letter from an anonymous source, identifying themselves as “A Concerned Parent,” claimed the school was shielding English Literature teacher Patrick Nyahwo.
Nyahwo, 55, was acquitted earlier this year by Marondera Magistrate Sharon Rakafa, who attributed the case to “workplace politics.”
Nyahwo had been suspended for three months pending the court’s decision.
The court ruled in his favor, citing doubts related to workplace conflicts.
During the trial, several students admitted they had been coached by a teacher to testify against Nyahwo. A government disciplinary committee also cleared him of the same allegations.
MCZ secretary for education, Daniel Muzenda, dismissed the accusations circulating on social media as false, asserting that Nyahwo was acquitted and that the school continues to operate normally.
Muzenda also refuted claims that teacher transfers were linked to Nyahwo, clarifying that transfers are a routine part of the organization and unrelated to the allegations.
