South African musician, actor, and director Timmy Kwebulana has died after a brief illness on Thursday, September 19.
His family confirmed the news in a statement expressing gratitude for his nearly six-decade contribution to the arts and entertainment industry. They also acknowledged the many condolences received and requested time to arrange logistics for the next steps.
Kwebulana, 83, was born in Cape Town and is best known for his roles in television series like “Fishy Feshuns,” “Shooting Stars,” and “Mazinyo Dot Q.”
He also appeared in the Mzansi Magic comedy “Chandies” and films including “Kin” and “Nag van Vrees.” His final project, the Christmas movie “Homecoming,” featuring award-winning actress Thoko Ntshinga, is set for release in October.
Following the announcement of his passing, tributes flooded social media, with many fans honoring his legacy as one of South Africa’s finest actors.
