Tonderai Obey Manyika clinched the title of World Fitness Federation Zimbabwe 2024 Novice body-building champion in the capital city over the weekend, marking his debut appearance in the championship with an impressive victory.
Manyika, also known as “The Hulk,” stood out among the competitors, securing the top spot in the Novice Cup category, specifically designed for newcomers to the stage. The 33-year-old athlete from Murewa demonstrated remarkable skill and determination, earning himself a floating trophy and a gold medal for his outstanding performance.
Reflecting on his achievement, Manyika expressed his joy at winning his inaugural major contest and expressed his eagerness to participate in upcoming tournaments. He attributed his success to his coach, Alec Jaure, who provided unwavering support and guidance throughout his journey in body-building. Manyika, who transitioned from mixed martial arts to body-building in 2014, emphasized the importance of perseverance and self-confidence in achieving his goals.

In addition to Manyika’s victory, Regis Ngorima secured the silver medal, followed by Takunda Chidhakwa and Francois Joey in the top four positions. The competition featured athletes competing in various categories, including junior men’s body-building, women’s sports model, and jeans model, among others. Nicola Hwindiri emerged as the winner in the women’s sports model category, while Wilson Masvinhise claimed victory in the jeans model category.
World Fitness Federation Zimbabwe president, Godwin Simba Mhaka, expressed his gratitude to the organizers and sponsors for their contributions to the success of the event. He commended the competitive spirit displayed by the participants and looked forward to hosting more successful tournaments in the future.
