Donald Trump has labeled a judge as “the most evil person” following her release of over 1,800 pages of evidence related to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s election conspiracy case against him.

The Republican presidential candidate criticized US District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan’s decision to deny his request to postpone the release of the evidence until after the upcoming election, claiming it constitutes “election interference.”

Legal experts have discussed whether the filings may violate a Justice Department rule that advises prosecutors to avoid actions that could influence an election within 60 days of voting. However, Judge Chutkan contended that withholding the documents could itself be seen as a form of election interference.

“If the court withheld information that the public has a right to access solely due to the potential political consequences, that could be construed as – or appear to be – election interference,” she stated.

Last year, a Texas woman faced charges for making death threats against Judge Chutkan in connection with the Trump case.

The 1,889 pages of heavily redacted documents released on Friday mainly reiterated information already publicly available, including excerpts from former Vice President Mike Pence’s biography and his formal statement that he would not overturn the results of the 2020 election.

This new evidence is part of a motion submitted by Smith last month.

In a podcast appearance with right-wing commentator Dan Bongino, Trump criticized Judge Chutkan and referred to the special counsel as “a sick puppy.”

The indictment focuses on the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riot and accuses Trump of unlawfully conspiring to reverse his election loss to Joe Biden.

During the interview, Trump also drew a parallel between the detention of those charged in the Capitol riot and the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. “Why are they still being held? Nobody has ever been treated like this,” he said. “Maybe the Japanese during the Second World War, frankly.”
