Two passengers were killed in an attack aboard a bus travelling to Zimbabwe from Pretoria near Bela Bela, Limpopo, in the early hours of Thursday.
Limpopo police said they have started two murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery cases.
“Three individuals allegedly pretended to be passengers on a Harare-bound bus at Pretoria’s Bosman Street station. “The Copperbelt Bus Company bus departed Pretoria just after 1 a.m. this morning,” Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said.
“As it crossed Mantsole weighbridge along the N1 route, one of the suspects reportedly drew a handgun and blasted through the front glass, causing the driver to pull over.
“The other suspects shot three ladies, killing two instantaneously and gravely wounding the third. The other passengers were then instructed to depart and lie down on the ground. They were robbed of their possessions, which included cash, telephones, and passports.
