Vehicle Stolen While Owner Opens Gate In Eastlea

A car was stolen while its engine was left idling at a gate in Eastlea, Harare. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) issued a statement urging the public to avoid leaving vehicle engines running when they stop and disembark.

The incident occurred on May 10, 2024, involving an orange Proton Gen 2 GLS with the registration number ADR 5543. According to the ZRP, the vehicle’s owner stepped out to open the gate, leaving the engine running. During this brief moment, an unknown suspect got into the car and drove away.

The ZRP emphasized the importance of turning off engines and securing vehicles even for short stops. They are appealing to the public for any information regarding the stolen vehicle and the suspect. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to report to the nearest police station.

This incident highlights the need for increased vigilance and adherence to safety practices to prevent vehicle thefts.
