Who Did It Better? Magaya vs. Nduna in the Battle of Fake Degrees

Professor Mlambo’s Role in Magaya’s ‘Fake’ Honorary Degree Under Scrutiny

Two prominent Zimbabwean figures, Walter Magaya and Dexter Nduna, have found themselves at the center of a controversy surrounding false academic qualifications.

Both individuals, who had claimed to have graduated with degrees from respected institutions, are now under scrutiny after revelations surfaced that their credentials were fabricated.

Walter Magaya, the well-known preacher and leader of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) church in Zimbabwe, had long boasted of a degree in marketing from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

However, recent investigations have cast doubt on the legitimacy of this claim. Despite presenting himself as a successful graduate, Magaya’s name does not appear in UNISA’s records as having completed any degree program.

This revelation has sparked widespread outrage, particularly given Magaya’s prominent role in both religious and business circles.

Magaya’s misleading claims have not only raised questions about his academic integrity but have also prompted public backlash, with some followers feeling betrayed by the man they trusted as a spiritual leader.

The controversy surrounding his qualifications is compounded by allegations of deceit in other areas of his life, including claims of the miraculous discovery of Aguma, a remedy he claimed cures AIDS, and business dealings that have come under scrutiny.

Similarly, Dexter Nduna, a Member of Parliament in Zimbabwe, was caught in a similar web of deceit. Nduna, who had previously stated that he graduated with a law degree from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), faced criticism after it was revealed that he had failed some of his modules.

The revelation of these faked qualifications has sent shockwaves through Zimbabwe’s political and public spheres, with many questioning the integrity of individuals who hold such influential positions.

The widespread attention this scandal has garnered highlights the importance of transparency and honesty, particularly for public figures who hold significant influence over their followers and constituencies.

This situation raises important questions about the consequences of fabricating academic qualifications and the impact it has on the individuals involved, as well as the trust placed in them by the public.
