Wicknell Chivayo, the well-known Zimbabwean business tycoon, has recently acquired a luxurious mansion previously owned by the exiled former Zimbabwe Republic Police commissioner Augustine Chihuri.
The mansion, located in the upscale Gletwin area near Chishawasha Hills in Harare, is valued at R130 million (approximately $7 million USD). The property spans an impressive 17 hectares and features extensive amenities including a small dam, tennis courts, and a helipad.
The mansion, now furnished by the South African high-end firm Norman Bakos, has undergone significant enhancements estimated to cost over R2 million.
The interior boasts designer furniture and thematic rooms, further adding to its opulent appearance.
The exterior is adorned with pine and olive trees imported from Israel, a testament to its extravagant design.
Chivayo, represented by his lawyers Manase and Manase, confirmed his association with the property through a trust, although the specific details of the trust remain undisclosed. Despite his efforts to maintain a level of privacy, Chivayo has not hesitated to showcase the mansion on social media, sharing glimpses of its grandeur and sophisticated features.
This acquisition has stirred significant public interest, highlighting Chivayo’s penchant for luxury and his ability to secure high-value properties. The mansion’s previous owner, Augustine Chihuri, fled Zimbabwe after the 2017 coup and has been fighting legal battles to retain his assets, which the state claims were acquired through illicit means.
