Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his fiancée, Lulu, recently made a courtesy visit to Kenyan President William Ruto while traveling to Tanzania for the 2025 Energy Summit.
The summit, organized by Tanzania in partnership with the African Union, African Development Bank, and the World Bank, aligns with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030. It focuses on increasing energy access through renewable energy solutions, which are critical for Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy, aiming to use clean energy to drive industrialization and inclusive growth.
Chivayo shared the experience on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY…
On my way to the 2025 Energy Summit in Tanzania, I took the opportunity to meet with President William Ruto of Kenya, a leader whose dedication to renewable energy highlights Africa’s role in the global energy transition.
The 2025 Energy Summit, hosted by Tanzania with support from the African Union, African Development Bank, and the World Bank, aligns its Mission 300 goals with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, focusing on transforming lives through improved energy access, particularly through renewable energy.
Zimbabwe’s efforts to integrate its National Development Strategy with global energy initiatives are commendable, positioning clean energy as central to industrialization and long-term inclusive development. This alignment demonstrates visionary leadership and an understanding of how sustainable energy fuels economic growth.
With abundant solar resources, Zimbabwe is poised to be a leader in Africa’s energy revolution. I look forward to the summit as a chance to explore funding and partnerships for impactful renewable energy projects. As we address Africa’s energy challenges together, we can create a future where energy drives progress and protects the planet.”
This isn’t the first time Chivayo has connected with President Ruto. The Zimbabwean entrepreneur, who has been exploring African destinations with his fiancée, also shared highlights of their trip, which included a visit to President Ruto’s farm. Chivayo expressed his admiration for Ruto’s leadership, calling him a visionary and praising Kenya’s progress under his guidance.
