Businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo has pledged a $10 million sponsorship to the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), contingent on Nqobile Magwizi winning the presidential elections today.

Alongside this generous offer, Chivayo has committed to gifting Magwizi a brand-new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series, valued at $200,000, to celebrate his potential election as president.

Chivayo shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), stressing the significance of the upcoming elections. He described it as a “defining moment” for Zimbabwean football, noting that the election of a new ZIFA president and board marks a crucial turning point in the sport’s history. He emphasized football’s power to unite Zimbabweans and inspire national pride.

Chivayo further stated, “It’s time for ZIFA to evolve into a dynamic organization focused on football development and commercial growth. The new leader must prioritize governance, accountability, and the business of football to restore the glory of Zimbabwean football.”

In support of Magwizi, Chivayo highlighted his extensive experience in finance, marketing, and sports administration, as well as his successful track record of securing sponsorships for major clubs like Highlanders FC and Dynamos FC. He praised Magwizi’s leadership qualities, stressing the need for such a vision to elevate ZIFA to global standards.

Should Magwizi emerge victorious, Chivayo intends to motivate the new ZIFA president, board members, and councillors across the nation by providing each of them with new vehicles, with specific details to be announced later. Additionally, he plans to invest $10 million in grassroots football development, improving ZIFA operations, and advancing the sport’s commercialization.

Reflecting on his previous contributions, Chivayo recalled donating $1 million to ZIFA in 2015, under the leadership of Philip Chiyangwa, and expressed his intention to now contribute ten times that amount.

Concluding his message, Chivayo expressed confidence in Magwizi’s qualifications, stating, “I believe Nqobile Magwizi has the integrity, experience, and drive necessary to lead ZIFA successfully. I wish all candidates the best and may the best man win.”
