A woman was brutally attacked, stabbed seven times, robbed, and left for dead at one of the city’s most notorious flats, Gail Court, located along Samora Machel Avenue, just a day after the New Year’s Day celebrations.
Memory Moyo, a resident of Unit B in Seke, Chitungwiza, was visiting a friend when she became the victim of the violent assault. The suspect, identified as Simbarashe Mufandaedza, has since been arrested and appeared in court over the weekend, facing charges of robbery.
The court was told that on January 2, just after midnight, Moyo met Mufandaedza at Flat Number 14 of Gail Court. Mufandaedza then attacked Moyo, producing an Okapi knife and stabbing her three times in her left hand and four times in her right leg.

The assailant proceeded to rob Moyo of her Samsung M33 cellphone and US$200 in cash, leaving her severely injured and abandoned. Despite the severity of the attack, Moyo managed to survive and was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment, where she is currently receiving care for the deep cuts on her hand and leg.
Mufandaedza was arrested at Gail Court shortly after the attack, though authorities reported that nothing was recovered from him.
