Zanu PF Intensifies Factional Purges, More Expulsions Expected Following Provincial Recommendations

Factionalism within Zanu PF is intensifying as more expulsions are expected following recommendations from several provinces to the party’s national disciplinary committee, identifying members to be dismissed.

This was revealed by Zanu PF Manicaland political commissar Albert Nyakuedzwa during a Makoni district co-ordinating committee meeting in Rusape on Sunday.

Nyakuedzwa emphasized that all social media groups associated with the party must be officially registered with Zanu PF.

“Other provinces have submitted their recommendations to the national disciplinary committee, naming those who should be expelled, and you’ve seen that some have already been dismissed,” he stated.

“As Manicaland, we need discipline within the party. We don’t want individuals who attack our leaders. Some people have been attacking our leaders in social media groups, so we’ve decided that all party groups must be registered with the party so we can know who to approach if further discipline issues arise,” Nyakuedzwa added.

Last week, Zanu PF expelled eight members, including the outspoken war veteran Blessed Geza. Among those dismissed were influential figures such as Harare province political commissar Kudakwashe Damson, Zanu PF Gutu East MP Benjamin Ganyiwa, and Godfrey Gomwe.

Nyakuedzwa also made it clear that the 2030 agenda, aimed at extending President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s tenure, “is not open to debate,” as it had been officially endorsed by the party.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Makoni DCC chairperson Kudzai Chipanga urged party unity, stressing the importance of solidarity. Chipanga, known for organizing the one million man march during the late former President Robert Mugabe’s era, warned against those sowing divisions within the party.

“We do not want divisions in the party. Those who are causing divisions, take this as a warning,” he said.
