Recent videos from the well-known Zanzou nightclub in Pretoria, Gauteng, have sparked widespread concern online, showing distressing incidents allegedly involving the club’s security personnel. The footage has raised serious ethical and legal questions about the treatment of patrons.
The clips, which have caused significant public outcry, depict individuals restrained in a manner that has drawn allegations of misconduct and excessive force. Some victims appear to have been subjected to degrading treatment, prompting calls for further investigation.

In response, Zanzou’s management issued a statement acknowledging the videos and asserting that they took immediate action upon discovering the alleged incidents.
“At the time when management became aware of these practices, an investigation was launched, leading to the immediate termination of security personnel involved,” the club stated.
The nightclub further emphasized its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all patrons.
“We have since outsourced our security services to a fully registered and compliant security company that operates strictly in accordance with South African laws and regulations. Additionally, we have instructed our staff to work closely with law enforcement in addressing any security concerns,” the statement continued.
Zanzou’s legal team has also denied allegations that the incidents stemmed from unpaid bills, maintaining that further legal steps will be taken as necessary.
The situation continues to unfold, with authorities and advocacy groups calling for a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure accountability and the protection of patrons’ rights.
