According to reports, Kostadin Papić, a Serbian coach, has apparently received contact from the ZIFA Normalisation Committee (NC) over a possible leadership position with the Zimbabwe national senior men’s football team, the Warriors.
The Warriors have been without a coach since Brazilian coach Baltemar Britto’s short-term contract expired at the end of 2023. Coach Norman Mapeza of FC Platinum was appointed to manage the team at the four-nation tournament held in Malawi last month in the interim.
The Lincoln Mutasa-led administration is in responsible of selecting a permanent coach to lead the Warriors ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.

Kostadin Papić, who is sixty-three years old, has a strong coaching background. He managed teams in South Africa, Ghana, and Tanzania, including Orlando Pirates, Maritzburg United, and Hearts of Oak. He also briefly managed Kaizer Chiefs. Soccer24 cited sources indicating that the ZIFA NC first made contact with Papić’s representatives on April 15 and then had direct communication with the coach the following day. Despite this, no formal agreement has been reached as of yet.
Papić applied for the Warriors coaching post the first time the NC posted an advertisement for it. His extensive background and performance history in African football make him an attractive choice for the position.
