Following allegations of a bomb or firearm threat targeting the nation’s ports of entry, the security systems of the nation were placed on high alert yesterday. As a result, the country’s airports are currently running regularly, and all parties involved should utilise them without reservation.
Following increased security measures nationwide, Chief Executive Officer of the Airports Company of Zimbabwe, Mr. Tawanda Gusha, gave the nation the assurance yesterday that everything was set up for safe air travel.
The government had earlier released a statement asking for patience, noting that the nation’s security measures were ready to handle any threats while the inquiry was ongoing.

Alarms were sparked when Fastjet Airlines forwarded an email to Zimbabwean authorities that purported to be from a “John Doe” with reliable information about a bomb or gun threat against airports in Zimbabwe.
Doe’s location and nationality are also the subject of current investigations.
“(The) airports are operating, including the Victoria Falls International Airport,” Mr. Gusha stated in an interview with the Herald last night.
“We want to reassure our stakeholders and everyone who travels through airports that every safety measure has been taken by the security services.”
The nation’s security systems have been placed on high alert, according to a statement made earlier yesterday by Mr George Charamba, Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet (Presidential Communications).
“An email sent through Fastjet airline by one John Doe alleging ”credible bomb/firearm threat” targeting Zimbabwean airports was brought to the attention of Zimbabwe airport authorities this morning,” Mr. Charamba stated.
“In response to this communication, the nation’s security systems are currently on high alert. The message’s origins and legitimacy are also being looked into.
“Although there is peace in our nation and strong security at all points of entry, we take these warnings about potential terrorist attacks very seriously because nothing should be left to chance.”
“The country is asked to maintain its composure while investigations are conducted. When the investigations are over, the pertinent government agencies will release the findings.
“This morning, His Excellency the President, Dr. ED Mnangagwa, was scheduled to speak at a meeting in the upscale resort city of Victoria Falls. However, due to ongoing investigations, he has been forced to postpone his trip.”
